Formula #4, Propolis

Since ancient times, the virtues of propolis, a resinous material manufactured by bees as a defense against hive intrusions, have been extolled. Gathered from leaf buds or tree bark, or metabolized by the bee from pollen and gathered nectar, propolis acts in the hive as a barrier against pollutants and bacteria.

Propolis is rich in biologically active vitamins - especially B-Complex vitamins and vitamins C,E and Provitamin A and also contains such trace minerals as copper, manganese and zinc, along with a variety of amino acids. Resins and balms make up about 55% of its composition, along with about 10% aromatic essential oils, nearly 30% wax and 5% pollen. Truly, propolis is a nutritional powerhouse.

Even more important, propolis is an excellent source of flavonoids which research has shown to have great beneficial effects on the body when given in high concentrations. In fact, the flavonoid content of propolis is approximately 500 times that of oranges. flavonoids influence the compound production of several endocrine glands, including the thymus, thyroid, pancreas beneficial for the capillary and circulatory systems.

More recently, research has focused on the antioxidant effects of propolis, As we grow older, the body oxidizes and deteriorates, a process accelerated by unstable oxygen molecules called free radicals. Some nutritionists have called propolis the Fountain of Youth although that may be a hyperbole.

Golden Pride/Rawleigh's Formula #4, Propolis is available in both tablet and capsule form, as well as in a throat spray. Discover for yourself the benefits of what nutritionists and thousands of others have been extolling for centuries.
