    The Vanilla bean itself is picked before it is ripe. Once picked, it is then cured by experts and each stage of the process must receive the utmost care. The beans are exposed on frames to the sun and by night are wrapped in blankets under cover. This is the sweating process which turns the vanilla bean to a deep rich brown colour and this process is over a 30 day period.

    For the next 40 days the beans are then dried. The compound used for the Rawleigh Vanilla is made up with the Madagascar bourbon vanilla bean. To double its strength, ethyl vanillin is added along with other ingredients resulting in Rawleigh's unique flavour, just like a good Scotch or Bourbon blend. Note that the word 'imitation' must be included on the label to comply with the Food & Drug Laws because we add Vanillin and Ethyl Vanillin as flavour building ingredients because pure vanilla extract by itself does not have the richness of taste and flavour lasting qualities on its own.
